Refund & Cancellation Policy
Effective date: 29 March 2026
Last updated: 2 April 2026
1. Overview
Dothatshi enables users to deposit money into a platform wallet, commit funds to personal contracts, and earn or forfeit based on contract outcomes. This policy governs refunds on wallet deposits, commitment cancellations, forfeit mechanics, and disputed transactions.
All transactions on Dothatshi are processed through a PCI-DSS compliant payment gateway. Dothatshi does not store card or banking credentials.
2. Wallet Deposits
Funds deposited into your Dothatshi wallet are credited to your Available Balance and are available for committing immediately.
Deposit refunds are eligible when:
- The payment was successfully charged but funds were not credited to your wallet due to a technical error
- A duplicate transaction was processed
- You request a refund of unspent wallet balance within 7 days of the deposit, provided no portion of that deposit has been committed to a contract
Deposit refunds are not eligible when:
- Funds have already been committed in an active or completed contract
- More than 7 days have passed since the deposit
- The deposit was made as part of a promotional, gifted, or bonus credit
3. Committed Funds
Once funds are committed to a contract, they are locked until the contract resolves. Commitment is the core of Dothatshi. Committing is intentional and binding.
Committed funds will be returned to your Available Balance if:
- A contract is cancelled by the Dothatshi platform or admin before it begins
- A contract cannot be completed due to a verified technical fault on our side
- An admin overrides the outcome following a successful dispute resolution
- The contract creator cancels the contract before the official start date
- A Head-to-Head contract results in a Draw (both participants complete). Both contract amounts and platform fees are returned in full
- A contract expires without any participants joining (e.g. no one accepts a Head-to-Head within 48 hours)
Committed funds will not be refunded if:
- You voluntarily withdraw from a contract after committing
- You fail to complete a contract by the stated deadline
- The contract is completed and the outcome is verified, even if unfavourable to you
- Your account is suspended due to a platform policy violation
4. Platform Service Fee
Dothatshi charges a 5% service fee at the time of contract creation. The fee is added on top of your contract amount.
- The platform fee is non-refundable on successful contract completion or forfeit
- The platform fee is refunded on Draw (Head-to-Head only) or contract Expiry
- Mini Contracts are exempt from the platform fee
5. Forfeit Destinations
When you forfeit a contract, your contract amount is directed to the forfeit destination you selected at creation. Forfeited amounts are not returned to you.
- Charity — forfeited amount is donated to your chosen charity in monthly batches
- Motivation Boost — forfeited amount goes to the cause you selected
- Platform Pool — forfeited amount funds community rewards
Referee rewards (if applicable) are deducted from the forfeited amount before it reaches the forfeit destination. The forfeit destination cannot be changed after contract creation.
6. Referee Rewards
Platform Referees earn a reward when a contract creator forfeits. The reward is 12.5% of the forfeited contract amount (subject to minimum and maximum caps). Referee rewards are deducted from the forfeited amount and credited to the referee's wallet.
Referee rewards are non-reversible once paid. They cannot be clawed back after payout, even if the contract is later disputed, unless admin determines the verdict was fraudulent. In that case, the referee's account may be suspended and rewards forfeited.
7. Refund Processing
Timelines
Refunds are processed to the original payment method only. We are unable to redirect refunds to a different account or instrument.
8. 48-Hour Payout Hold & Contract Disputes
Every resolved contract has a mandatory 48-hour payout hold before any funds are distributed. This protects all participants by allowing time to review the outcome.
How the dispute process works:
- Contract outcome is determined (Success or Failed) by referees, community vote, or admin
- A 48-hour hold window begins. No funds move during this period
- Any participant can raise a dispute from the contract detail page during this window
- If a dispute is filed, all payouts for that contract are frozen until the dispute is resolved
- Admin reviews the dispute, evidence, and original outcome
- Admin decides: uphold (original outcome stands), reverse (outcome flipped, payouts recalculated), or dismiss (dispute invalid, payouts proceed)
- All participants are notified of the final decision
If no disputes are raised during the 48-hour window, payouts are released automatically. Once the hold window has closed and no dispute was filed, the outcome is final.
9. Payment Disputes & Unauthorised Transactions
If you believe a wallet transaction is incorrect or unauthorised (separate from contract outcome disputes), contact us immediately at support@dothatshi.com or submit a support ticket through the Help Centre.
Include your registered email, transaction reference number, amount, and a description of the issue. We will acknowledge your request within 48 hours and aim to resolve within 7 business days.
10. Chargebacks
If you initiate a chargeback with your bank or card issuer without first raising a dispute with Dothatshi, we reserve the right to suspend your account pending investigation. We encourage all users to use the in-app dispute process or contact us directly first. We are committed to resolving disputes fairly and promptly.
11. Consumer Rights
This policy operates within the framework of the Consumer Protection Act, 2019 (India) and the guidelines issued by the Reserve Bank of India. Nothing in this policy limits any statutory rights you hold as a consumer under applicable Indian law.
